In today's business environment, companies are facing numerous challenges to maintain a competitive edge in the market. Particularly, the focus on automation continues to grow in order to address labor shortages and meet the constant pressure for efficiency, productivity enhancement, and cost reduction. A strategic approach to this is reflected in the application of robotic process automation (RPA). Through this technology, standardized data is processed using software robots (bots), automating manual, repetitive, and rule-based processes of low complexity. However, practical implementation of this approach reveals significant disparities. As a result, this master's thesis aims to investigate the question of which best-practice approach companies can follow when considering the implementation of RPA. The starting point for achieving this objective lies in the analysis of literature, which underscores the high relevance attributed to modern technologies. Within the framework of a qualitative research study, an empirical investigation was conducted using a multi-stage methodological approach. Data collection was carried out through expert interviews, which were subsequently analyzed using qualitative content analysis according to Mayring. The findings of this study indicate that the implementation of RPA is a complex and timeconsuming endeavor, with profound effects on the structure and functioning of organizational units. Furthermore, various challenges emerge in the course of such automation projects, with particular emphasis on the critical nature of the approach to initial RPA implementation, often rooted in inadequate planning and strategy. The insights from literature and empirical research underwent comprehensive examination to consolidate these experiences into a linear implementation model for RPA. The process flow is depicted using a flowchart to visualize the individual relevant steps and decisions. The thesis concludes with a summary of the results and provides an outlook on future developments and trends in the RPA domain. By offering a comprehensive examination of RPA, this master's thesis provides a well-founded overview of this emerging technology and delivers valuable insights for companies and organizations looking to integrate RPA into their business processes. As a result of this work, it became evident that this technology is already partially adopted by companies to varying degrees. Management must engage with this early on and find the right path to successfully complete such projects
