    Abstract

In today's business practice, which is characterized by increasing challenges, relevant information is essential in decision-making processes. The targeted and timely supply of information through suitable key figures is crucial for this. In the food industry, there are special requirements for production controlling due to industry-specific characteristics. At the same time, the amount of data in companies is constantly increasing, which makes a clear and efficient presentation indispensable. Interactive dashboards offer an opportunity to present decision-relevant information in a user-oriented and visually appealing way. This thesis addresses these challenges and develops a management-relevant dashboard for a company in the food industry. The work is divided into five main chapters: First, a classification of the food industry in Austria is given. This is followed by a general discussion of production controlling, focusing on key figures for capacity, throughput time, quality, inventory and occupational safety. In the next step, industry-specific key production figures for the food industry are analyzed. This is followed by a detailed analysis of the optimal design of interactive dashboards using MS Power BI. The requirements for a dashboard, the selection of suitable key figures and reporting design are discussed. The last chapter describes the case study. The methodological basis is a comprehensive literature research and a case study. The literature research was carried out in various databases using industry- and topic-specific search terms. In the case study, an interactive production dashboard is developed for efko Frischfrucht und Delikatessen GmbH, which is then evaluated using a Thinking Aloud test. This work shows that a targeted selection and structured presentation of production KPIs supports decision-makers in their decision-making. In addition to general production indicators for capacity, throughput time, quality, inventory and occupational safety, industryspecific metrics such as a spoilage rate, ripening time and recipe accuracy were also identified for companies of the food industry. The Power BI dashboard developed for efko includes key figures such as quantity produced, line availability, raw material tonnage and employee productivity. The visual implementation follows the SUCCESS rules of the IBCS standards to ensure a consistent and intuitive presentation. The results of the Thinking Aloud test underline the relevance of BI-supported controlling and show how companies in the food industry can optimize their production control using modern reporting tools such as Power BI.
