    Abstract

This thesis deals with the representation of overtourism in film and animation and its influence on tourist behavior. Previous research has shown that films can awaken emotional longings, symbolically charge destinations and trigger real travel flows. Therefore, the central problem is that films can critically reflect tourism on the one hand, but can also unconsciously contribute to its reinforcement on the other.A qualitative film analysis of the three films Behind the Scenes (AT 2025), Double Happiness (AT/CN 2014) by Ella Raidel and All inclusive (CH 2018) by Corina Schwingruber Ilić was carried out using film and media studies approaches according to Hickethier, Faulstich and Wells. The analysis reveals that socially relevant topics, such as overtourism, are critically reflected and aesthetically refracted through repetition, fragmentation, irony, and essay-like narrative forms. This work makes it clear that audiovisual media as cultural actors contribute both to the deconstruction of tourist desires and to the emergence of film tourism, and that the social and economic effects are measurable.
