The starting point for this thesis is the strategic challenge faced by Zeppelin Nightliners GmbH, a company specializing in international passenger transport for events, to secure its business base against increasing competition and seasonal fluctuations. The market is increasingly demanding full-service providers who, in addition to passenger transport, also handle the transport of equipment. This raises the question for the company of whether and how diversification into international freight transport can be implemented in an economically and organizationally sensible manner. Without a thorough analysis, there is a risk of ill-considered entry to the market with adverse financial or operational consequences. The aim is therefore to provide a scientifically sound basis for decision-making for the sustainable development of the company. The thesis is divided into a theoretical and practical part. First, the basic concepts of transport logistics, the legal framework for international freight transport, and risk management methods are examined. Next, the Business Model Canvas is explained as a tool for analyzing and strategically designing business models. In the practical part, these approaches are applied to a specific case study of Zeppelin Nightliners GmbH. The central methodologies are the application of the Business Model Canvas for the systematic presentation of the expanded business model and the use of the risk matrix for the structured assessment and prioritization of relevant risks. In addition, financial and organizational aspects are considered regarding the planned business expansion. The study shows that Zeppelin Nightliners GmbH has a solid basis for entering the international freight transport market, particularly thanks to its young vehicle fleet, human resources, and existing market connections. The systematic application of the Business Model Canvas makes synergies, unique selling points, and potential weaknesses transparent. Risks, such as unforeseen market changes, high fixed costs, or demanding regulatory requirements, were identified and prioritized using a risk matrix. As a result, a gradual introduction of the new business area, accompanied by professional risk and cost controlling and the active involvement of experienced partners, can be recommended. The study thus provides a practical, scientifically based foundation for informed decision-making regarding the planned diversification and highlights both concrete implementation opportunities and key problem areas for Zeppelin Nightliners GmbH.
