    Abstract

The topics of pain and interculturality each present complex challenge on their own. Together, these two determinants influence both the effectiveness of nursing interventions and the preferences of patients, thereby placing high demands on clinical pain management. Surveys on nursing quality have highlighted the importance of accurately assessing and adequately treating pain, while also emphasizing the high demand for appropriate measures. At the same time, the healthcare sector is facing an increasing need to break down cultural barriers and improve the care of individuals with a migration background. Previous approaches have typically focused on specific aspects, such as cultural or religious factors, while other dimensions, such as gender or socioeconomic status, have been neglected or overlooked. A more comprehensive diversity management approach could help bridge these gaps. This study integrates insights from intercultural communication, pain management, and healthcare services. It aims to derive measures that enhance cultural competence and, consequently, improve the quality of care provided by nursing staff in inpatient settings.
