The digitalization and automation of logistics processes through Industry 4.0 technologies offers significant advantages for efficiency and transparency in companies. In the face of intense competition and rapid market development, the continuous adaptation and improvement of logistics systems is crucial. This thesis examines how Industry 4.0 innovations can support and improve lean logistics principles and what challenges might arise when integrating them. The thesis is divided into five main chapters, beginning with a detailed consideration of lean logistics and its evolutionary development. This is followed by a discussion of the fundamentals and potential of Industry 4.0, including specific technologies such as CPS, RFID, Big Data, VR & AR, AGVs and AI that could be applied in lean logistics. Methodologically, the work combines theoretical foundations with an analysis of the practical application of these technologies in the industry to optimize existing processes and identify new challenges. The results show that the use of Industry 4.0 technologies such as automated tracking systems and integrated software solutions enables greater transparency and improved process monitoring, which leads to a significant reduction in waste and increased efficiency in logistics processes. However, it was also found that challenges such as the high initial investment and the need for comprehensive employee training should not be underestimated. The study recommends gradual integration with a clear focus on scalable solutions and continuous employee development.
