This master's thesis deals with the integration of Procurement 4.0 principles into the procurement organization of the voestalpine Steel Division. At a time when global markets are becoming increasingly volatile and technological innovations are advancing rapidly, the procurement department is facing the challenge of realigning itself. Traditional practices are no longer sufficient to meet current requirements. Instead, digital transformation and advanced technologies are needed to increase efficiency, transparency and resilience of the supply chain. This work features a detailed introduction to the theoretical foundations of Procurement 4.0, including the seven core principles: Information Systems and Technologies, Horizontal and Vertical Networking, Sustainability, Agility/Flexibility, Corporate Culture, Autonomous Processes and Data. These principles are explained in terms of their relevance and application. Best-practice examples of technological drivers and trends are presented and supply chain visibility is introduced as a strategic direction. Subsequently, the current structure and maturity level of the procurement organization of the voestalpine Steel Division is analyzed. For this purpose, semi-structured expert interviews were conducted to gain qualitative insights into existing processes, deficits and potentials. The interviews are based on a specific guideline for measuring the Procurement 4.0 maturity level. The two practical examples "Delivery Date Transparency" and "Replenishment Lead Time Monitor" show practical use cases in the voestalpine Steel Division and allow a more detailed analysis of the existing challenges and opportunities for optimizing procurement processes. The analysis of the procurement organization of the voestalpine Steel Division shows that the integration of Procurement 4.0 principles offers considerable potential. In particular, the implementation of advanced technologies can help to increase the transparency and control of the supply chain. These technologies enable the creation of a reliable database as a foundation for more reliable and faster decisions. Hence the voestalpine Steel Division can increase its performance by integrating Procurement 4.0 principles. However, this requires careful planning, adaptation of existing structures and processes, and employee training. In the long term, these adjustments would result in a more sustainable, efficient and resilient procurement organization.
