This Master’s thesis examines the leisure behavior of young people aged 8 to 14 years in the municipality of Vöcklabruck. The aim is to identify needs and develop perspectives for expanded services in low-threshold open youth work. Based on a original research assignment from the municipality, the work was ultimately designed independently in the sense of a lifeworld-oriented approach. The focus is on the question of how young people organize their leisure time, what their needs are and to what extent existing services address them. Insights into the situation in Vöcklabruck are gained through the use of qualitative research methods such as narrative interviews with youth work professionals and group interviews with young people. Theoretically, the work is based on concepts of open youth work and deals with intersectional approaches. This analysis reveals structural challenges, political tensions and gaps in the service landscape. The thesis concludes with recommendations for action for the needs-oriented development of youth work in Vöcklabruck.
