Abstract
This thesis investigates how artificial intelligence can be utilized to generate point-andclick adventure games automatically. After analyzing multiple existing point-and-clickgames and determining their progression system, a progression tree was established.
Subsequently, the artificial intelligence ChatGPT was used to create a new progression
tree from scratch and generate a coherent story to connect the different points laid
out by the tree. The power of generative artificial intelligence was further used to create
games from the narratives provided by the large language model. Images for background
locations, non-player characters (NPCs), and different items were created using the
artificial intelligence Dall-E-3. Thus, point-and-click adventure games were developed,
relying almost exclusively on the potential of AI. Said games were evaluated in a lab
study using the Game User Experience Satisfaction Scale (GUESS-18) and compared
to an already established title in The Curse of Monkey Island. The quality of the AIgenerated games was further explored by asking participants to identify which games
were generated by artificial intelligence and which were created by humans.
