Abstract

Artificial intelligence is changing the economy in all areas. More and more companies are using the technology to increase efficiency and effectiveness within the company. This also affects supplier management in the company. This article examines in detail which types of AI technologies are already being used in the Austrian corporate market and which of them offer added value for Hofer KG. Furthermore, the role of suppliers in the company's success is measured and it is shown how Hofer KG can use artificial intelligence to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of supplier management and what specific challenges and opportunities are associated with it. This thesis aims to investigate how artificial intelligence affects the process components in supplier management. In the first part of the thesis, a basic understanding of artificial intelligence is created, and supplier management in interaction with artificial intelligence is explained. The introduction of artificial intelligence at Hofer KG was analyzed on the basis of these theoretical approaches. The implementation of a comprehensive SWOT analysis was of decisive importance in order to identify the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and risks of AI integration. The result of this work shows that the introduction of Artificial Intelligence would be beneficial considering the factors identified by the SWOT analysis. The strengths of Hofer KG are the already existing data volumes as well as the support of the management, however, it must be taken into account that there is currently a lack of sufficiently trained employees for an optimal AI implementation and the associated high investment costs must be taken into account. A structured approach to the introduction of AI is proposed, which includes the identification of specific requirements and objectives, the selection of suitable AI technologies and the training of personnel. To ensure that the integration and optimal use of AI in existing processes is guaranteed, all steps are covered in detail.
