For companies, transitioning to new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems is often essential to streamline their business processes. These systems optimize workflows, enable informed decision-making, and promote sustainable growth. With increasing global connectivity and the need for efficient, integrated supply chains, transitioning to more modern ERP systems becomes necessary to remain competitive and meet international business demands. This thesis focuses on the rollout of SAP ERP Central Component (SAP ECC) at the German site of KEBA Group AG. Currently, the Lahnau site uses Infor LN (Infor Logistics Network) as its ERP system, while the central site in Linz employs SAP ECC. KEBA Group AG, a company in the electronics industry, faces significant challenges in this migration project, which involves switching ERP systems due to the complex manufacturing structures in this industry and the differing working practices at the two sites. A migration project refers to the process in which a company's existing ERP system is replaced by a new ERP system. This transition involves the transfer of all relevant data, the customization and configuration of the new software, as well as training employees on how to use the new system. The main objectives of such a project are to optimize operational processes, improve efficiency, and enhance the company’s competitiveness. The aim of this thesis is to investigate the general challenges that companies face in ERP migration projects and to highlight the specific challenges of KEBA Group AG in their current endeavor. For companies, the primary goal is to ensure that operations continue smoothly after the transition and that processes are restored to maintain the company's ability to deliver. Initially, the conditions and objectives of KEBA Group AG are described. Selected processes are then used to illustrate the benefits and competitive advantages that the company gains by integrating processes into a single system. The presentation of KEBA Group's approach is supported by comprehensive literature research to select the most suitable model for ERP migration. Additionally, the thesis addresses the specific challenges of switching from Infor LN to SAP ECC and discusses the identification and management of the most common risks. The thesis demonstrates that a successful ERP migration requires careful planning, comprehensive training, strong management support, and effective change management. By using structured methodologies and considering specific challenges, risks can be reduced, and the chances of a successful implementation can be significantly increased.
