Digitalization enables companies to make decisions based on data and facts instead of relying only on experience. Business Intelligence (BI) is already well established in almost every company and has become an integral part of business practice. The use of data is no longer limited to management but also creates value for specialized departments. By using data effectively, these departments can improve their processes and make better decisions. The main challenge lies in implementation. Data silos or shadow reporting can increase the risk of incorrect decision-making. BI-supported decisions should contribute to achieving the overall company strategy. If departments only provide analyses on an ad-hoc basis, this common goal cannot be reached. The aim of this thesis is to develop a procedural model that helps companies move from department-specific BI to company-wide BI. For this purpose, existing models are first described to show which model is suitable for which situation. The maturity model biMM is introduced to define the terms department-specific and company-wide BI based on certain characteristics. Based on the literature, a new procedural model is then developed that describes the necessary transformation steps. Following the Design Science Research method, the model is evaluated descriptively with two independent case studies from different industries. Based on the identified critical success factors for company-wide BI, evaluation criteria for the models are defined. In the final step, both the models from the literature and the developed model are evaluated and compared using these criteria. The evaluation showed that the developed model covers many aspects that existing models do not address. Examples include change management and defined stakeholder analyses. Taking these factors into account is important for successful implementation. The evaluation also indicated that the model is rather complex and therefore more suitable for larger companies. Smaller companies often do not have the necessary resources. Overall, the developed model describes all aspects that are needed for a successful transformation.
