The present study examines the potential of digitalization trends in supply chain management and their impact on addressing key challenges such as transparency, flexibility, cost optimization, sustainability, and globalization. The increasing complexity and dynamism of global supply chains require innovative approaches and technologies to successfully tackle these challenges. Digitalization trends such as big data and advanced analytics, the internet of things, cloud computing, digital twins, augmented reality, virtual reality, mixed reality, blockchain technology, cyber-physical systems, and artificial intelligence offer promising solutions for optimizing SCM processes. The motivation for this work lies in the necessity to improve the efficiency, transparency, and adaptability of modern supply chains. Global market changes and increasing customer demands pressure companies to continuously optimize their SCM processes. Digitalization offers numerous opportunities to achieve these goals but also presents companies with the challenge of identifying and successfully implementing the appropriate technologies. This study aims to highlight the specific advantages and applications of the aforementioned digitalization trends in the context of the identified SCM challenges. The work is divided into five main chapters. Following an introduction, a comprehensive overview of the fundamentals and current challenges in SCM is provided, followed by an introduction to digitalization, which examines digital technologies, IT systems, and individual digitalization trends. In the penultimate chapter, the relationship between the challenges in supply chain management and the influence of digitalization trends is established. The final chapter provides a conclusion and outlook. The methodology of the work is based on a systematic literature review, analyzing and evaluating relevant scientific articles and books. The study shows that big data and advanced analytics play a crucial role in optimizing decisionmaking and improving transparency in supply chains. By analyzing large amounts of data in realtime, companies can make more accurate predictions and respond more quickly to market changes. IoT technologies enable real-time monitoring of goods, significantly enhancing transparency and efficiency in the supply chain. Cloud computing provides a flexible and scalable infrastructure that facilitates collaboration and information sharing along the supply chain. Digital twins allow for deeper insights into supply chain processes and improved decision-making. AR, VR, and MR enhance the planning and design of supply chains and offer benefits in employee training and development. Blockchain technology increases traceability and transparency by providing an immutable record of all transactions. Cyber-physical systems integrate physical processes with digital technologies, enabling seamless integration and optimization of SCM processes. Artificial intelligence automates repetitive tasks, improves demand forecasting and risk management, and overall contributes to increased efficiency. In summary, the study shows that integrating these digitalization trends into supply chain management is crucial for addressing current challenges and ensuring the competitiveness of companies.
