Abstract

In a time where digitalization is pivotal for the success of manufacturing companies, this thesis focuses on the development and evaluation of digital strategies aimed at enhancing efficiency, reducing costs, and thereby increasing customer satisfaction. The goal is to identify and implement the essential elements of a successful digital transformation to improve productivity and market positioning. The investigation is conducted through a detailed analysis of relevant literature, combined with a case study in a leading Austrian metal processing company selected for its industry position and level of digitalization. This methodology, coupled with a representative company, aims to facilitate the direct applicability of the findings to similar industrial contexts. It is demonstrated that successful digital integration requires deep embedding in strategic planning and that strategies must be continuously adjusted by companies to respond to dynamic requirements and market conditions. The results indicate that successful digital strategies depend not only on the selection of appropriate technologies but also on management's ability to effectively integrate them and tailor them to the company's needs. Practical challenges often exceed theoretical models, necessitating flexible strategy adaptation. Furthermore, a close connection between strategic planning and operational implementation is crucial for successful digital transformation. Without a carefully considered and coherent digital strategy, the risk increases significantly in rapidly changing market environments, potentially depriving companies of their competitiveness.
