    Abstract

The ongoing digital transformation represents a significant challenge for Upper Austrian child education and care centres. In particular, the managers of nurseries, kindergartens and afterschool care centres play a key role: they not only take on administrative and organisational responsibilities, but also lead pedagogical teams through processes of change. This master's thesis addresses the extent to which digital transformation can contribute to the professionalisation of Upper Austrian child education and care centres and which skills, resources and tools are required to successfully manage central organisational and educational processes with the help of digital tools. First of all, the author of the thesis analyses the existing specialist literature on the digitalisation of the various areas of work of managers and educational professionals in Upper Austrian child education and care centres. Then, using a mixed-methods approach - consisting of qualitative expert interviews with professionals from the education sector and a quantitative online survey of Upper Austrian child education and care centres managers - the current status of digitalisation in nurseries, kindergardens and after school care centres is surveyed and analysed. This master's thesis focuses on concrete strategies and concepts that enable managers to empower their teams, drive digital transformation, and foster a professional approach to digital media and tools. The work concludes with practical recommendations to help managers to actively and courageously help shape change - in the interests of sustainable educational quality for all children.
