Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in women is often overlooked, leading to significant psychosocial stress. This master's thesis examines the psychosocial effects of ADHD in women using a qualitative interview study. It highlights personal experiences, stressors, and individual coping strategies— particularly in the areas of education, career, relationships, and motherhood. The seven interviews were evaluated using qualitative content analysis according to Mayring. The results show that women with ADHD often suffer from emotional overload, social role expectations, and delayed diagnosis. At the same time, they report creative strategies for dealing with challenges and reflect on existing support services. Differences between women diagnosed early and late became apparent. The study underlines the relevance of gender-sensitive diagnostics and tailored support services in order to sustainably improve the quality of life of affected women.
