    Abstract

A framework exists for the classification of skill, rule, and knowledge-based tasks. It
shows the negative correlation between cognitive load and the familiarity with the situation. There are some standardized tasks for multitasking research, like operating with
VCR systems, which test rule-based behavior. However, since some are already quite
old, this thesis proposes a new game that can be used as an alternative tool to outdated
standardized tasks. It builds up on high configurability to allow tailoring to specific
needs. The game’s demand was evaluated using NASA-TLX, a standardized measurement of cognitive load, and compared against the values from previous standardized
tasks to validate it as a possible replacement.
