    Abstract

Business process management is crucial to a company's competitiveness and ability to innovate and requires integrated process discipline and suitable tools. Process mining has established itself as a leading technology that contributes to process improvement and compliance, which is also of great importance for the financial stability of companies. Financial management is therefore essential for companies of all sizes. Subsequently, this also ensures long-term success. A clear understanding of possible correlations between business process management, its optimization through process mining and financial aspects can therefore bring companies considerable advantages in practice. The aim of this thesis is therefore to identify and present the effects of process mining on the financial strength of a company with the help of a systematic literature analysis. In order to create a theoretical basis for the relevant topics, the terms ‘business processes’, ‘business process management’, ‘process mining’ and ‘financial management’ were defined and the current state of research in this area was outlined. Building on this, a literature review was carried out and the most important information from the resulting research results relevant to the topic was summarized and interpreted. The results of the literature review show that the use of process mining can certainly have an impact on various aspects of financial strength. However, due to the heterogeneity of the identified studies, no generally valid statement can be made in the context of this work as to whether these effects are positive or negative. This finding represents a gap that can be addressed in further research.
