Soccer fields play an important role in the lives of many male teenagers. The importance they take in this varies individually and depends on the functions that the teenagers attribute to them. The postmigrant generation faces the challenge of dealing with existing social conditions. In these spaces, young people find a place that allows them to get rid of this pressure and to deal with everyday issues away from the normative discourse. The aim of this master's thesis is to focus on the importance of soccer fields for young people, as they play an important social role by promoting social relationships and supporting young people in their personal development. Soccer grounds from different cities serve as research objects in the present master’s thesis. The empirical investigation and the theoretical framework were partially developed in parallel. Narrative interviews were conducted with nine teenagers who regularly use soccer grounds and participatory observations were carried out. The data material was evaluated using qualitative content analysis. The evaluation took place on the basis of the theoretical framework and the aspects arising from conversations and observations. It was examined how the use of soccer fields for young people is shaped, what experiences or challenges arise and what social functions soccer fields have. The master’s thesis can be seen as an impulse to deal with these topics and these spaces, and to reflect critically on the prevailing stereotypical images about the young people acting in it. The results of the investigation were formulated as a prospect, in particular for the open youth work.
