The new standard of European emission regulations, henceforth referred to as the EU7, was formally published 10 November 2022. It has then gone through various updates, based on discussions with various stakeholders. Although the implementation dates are not till the year 2026 at the least, the requirement of developing a new On-Board Monitoring (OBM) system, that is able to analyse emission data in real-time, necessitated the start of development work already. The goal of this master’s thesis is to aid with the development of OBM. The solution will primarily provide aid in the definition of engineering limits where required, and in the creation of implementation strategies. The validation of required indicators by performing an analysis of available big data is also an important aspect to prove that the system will work as intended. This project aims to function as a tool upon which the OBM implementation can proceed.
