In a rapidly changing world of work, in which the demands on employees are constantly increasing, it becomes more and more important to specifically promote the health of employees. The increasing challenges in the workplace result in rising sickness-related absences and high costs for companies. Traditional approaches to occupational health promotion, which are often limited to superficial measures, are no longer sufficient to maintain the health and performance of employees in the long term. In view of the increasing number of working years and the fact that many employees do not experience retirement in good health, the need for comprehensive and innovative health promotion becomes clear. Against this backdrop, this master thesis examines how occupational health promotion must be designed in the hospital in order to meet current and future challenges and sustainably promote the health of employees in this setting. Based on a comprehensive literature review, the empirical part of the study used a mixed methods approach, first conducting qualitative interviews with experts and then building on this with a quantitative online survey. The data collected was summarized, analyzed and used to answer the research questions and formulate recommendations for action. The qualitative and quantitative surveys have identified several key problem areas. Among the most important are the increasing concentration of tasks, increasing physical and mental workloads, lack of personnel and time as well as difficulties with work-life balance. The survey also shows a clear desire for a more condition-oriented health promotion that is better integrated into the corporate culture, as well as an improvement in the framework conditions, particularly with regard to aspects of leadership, work organization and communication. The results underline the urgent need for action to redesign occupational health promotion in hospitals in order to meet the current and future requirements of employees. The recommendations focus on improving the framework conditions, involving employees in decision-making processes and promoting appreciation and recognition. It becomes clear that innovative and participatory occupational health promotion is necessary in order to sustainably promote the health and satisfaction of the workforce and effectively meet the challenges of the changing world of work.
