Abstract
This thesis addresses the topic of artificial intelligence in the domain of location basedgames, particularly in the tourism-sector. It introduces GeoGen, a prototypical location based game enriched with artificially-generated content. After presenting related
literature, the design and development of the prototype are explained in detail.
In a user study with 15 participants, two scenarios were tested against each other
within the prototype: An AI-generated scenario and a human-created, predefined scenario. The evaluation showed that an increased level of engagement and acceptance
can be measured from the AI-generated content compared to predefined content. Furthermore the AI-driven system was perceived as secure but participants only showed
a moderate level of trust towards the AI system. The main issues discovered were the
content’s lack of factual integrity and the repetitiveness of locations and motives in the
AI-generated scenarios. Proposals how to tackle these issues were subsequently made.
