Motivation and definition of issue: The business world is characterized by growing customer requirements with an increasing demand for flexibility and competitive pressure. In production companies, effective intralogitsics is one of the factors that determines whether customer requirements are met quickly and correctly, thus contributing to the company’s success. In Order to measure success, the right process key performance indicators, which are structured in a key performance indicator system to provide a gapless framework, play an essential role. The motivation for this work lies in the need to be able to plan and control the intralogistics of manufactoring companies more efficiently using relevant process key performance indicators and key performance indicator systems. This enables analyses and evaluations of intralogistics processes to be carried out, improved in a trageted manner and thus supported. In manufacturing companies, inefficient key performance indicator systems can make it difficult to measure the performance of intralogistics. Too many and insignificant key performance indicators are often measuered and viewed in isolation. The interplay of different key performance indicators is not used to identify system statuses. As a result, no targeted measueres can be derived for the smooth function of the entire intralogistics system. Due to the lack of a corresponding key performance indicator system, processes cannot be analyzed and evaluated in a targeted manner as there is no structure. Another difficulty is the selection of actually relevant key performance indicators in order to avoid measuering too many irrelevant key performance indicators. Content structure and methodology: First, an overview of intralogistics is provided in order to explain it and create an understanding of it. The first research question, “Which key performance indicators are decisive for production companies in intralogistics?”, is then addressed for the first time in the second substantive chaper, “Process key performance indicators”. This is followed by an introduction to the topic of “key performance indicator systems” and which requirements should be met. This leads to the first answer to the second and final research question: “How must a key performance indicator system be structured in order to effectively support intralogistics?”. Finally, in the practical section, recommendations are made for the development of a key performance indicator system for the intralogistics of production companies, in which both research questions are addressed once again und conclusively answered. Results of the work: To present scientific research, understanding and information in order to be able to make recommendations for action and develop a suitable system of key performance indicators for intralogistics in production companies.
