Abstract

The continuously ongoing transformation of the market increasingly demands higher quality standards for products and services. To maintain long-term competitiveness, it is crucial to ensure compliance with rising quality standards. By implementing a standardized quality management system according to ISO 9001, compliance with these requirements is guaranteed. SWARCO AG Holding, a leading company in the traffic technology industry, faces the challenge of implementing a standards-compliant quality management system. The goal of the implementation is to ensure quality standards across the holding structure and to serve as a role model for the corporate group. This work examines the introduction of this standard using the example of SWARCO AG Holding to identify the practical challenges and impacts of such a transformation process. The work is divided into several main sections that support the systematic investigation of the topic. The first part of the work comprises the theoretical chapters explaining the research methodology and introducing the basics of quality management systems, with a focus on the ISO 9000 family of standards. The further theoretical part presents the fundamentals of change management, with a main focus on Kotter's phase model. The empirical part is formed by the case study, using the example of SWARCO AG Holding. The case study examines the challenges of the change process including the implemented coping strategies, as well as the impacts on the company upon the introduction of ISO 9001. The results of the work show that the introduction of a standardized quality management system significantly contributes to the improvement of internal processes and customer satisfaction. It becomes clear that in addition to technical and structural adjustments, cultural aspects of change play a significant role. The implementation has already led to increased transparency in work processes and an increase in employee motivation at SWARCO AG Holding, and has improved the attitude towards change processes. These changes have not only strengthened the company internally but also driven numerous subsidiaries to introduce a quality management system according to ISO 9001, with support from the quality assurance tool ConSense.
