Abstract
Active Thermography has become a powerful tool in the field of Thermal Non-Destructive Testing (TNDT) in recent years. This thermal imaging technique is used for non – contact inspection of components and
materials by visualization of the temperature contrast of a sample surface after an external thermal excitation. The possibility of determining material properties as well as of detecting and characterising flaws in an industrial environment is of increasing importance. The comparison between
alternative NDT methods and active thermography as well as finite elements simulations (FEM) allows improved data analysis and more reliable test results.
