Abstract

The paper describe using of developed model for series capacitor protected by metal oxide varistor (MOV) based on the Describing function method (or method of harmonic balance) in short circuit studies. Symmetrical and unsymmetrical faults are concerned using compensation technique and the implementation of the method in classical short circuit analysis. The results are compared with existing empirical model.
