Abstract

The growing development of freight traffic volume and individual traffic volume will intensify the resulting problems of bottlenecks and congestion in city regions. Therefore, organizational measures have to be taken in future in order to realize a more efficient and better utilization of the available infrastructure capacity, especially in urban areas. The methodology approach is a guideline for optimizing and efficiently using the existing infrastructure and concentrates on avoiding, or at least postponing, costly capital investment in additional infrastructure. Furthermore, elimination or at least reduction of congestion and bottlenecks leads to competitive advantages for industry, for business parks, the entire urban area and benefits the environment too.
