Research output: Contribution to conferencePaperpeer-review

Abstract

This paper explores integrating game engine technologies into theater production to create interactive and immersive experiences. Our research, in collaboration with the Landestheater Linz, demonstrates how digital technologies can enhance traditional theater, making it more appealing to audiences through real-time audience interaction and extended reality elements. During the project, both the opportunities and challenges were discovered, emphasizing the need for technical expertise, iterative development, and collaborative workflows. Expert interviews underscore the importance of a common language between technical and artistic teams and reveal the educational potential of digital theater. This research lays the groundwork for future developments in digital theater, aiming to bridge the gap between traditional theatrical methods and modern digital capabilities.
