Abstract
Guiding systems as skewed pulleys are employed in flat belt guiding. This paper deals with a mechanical simulation model of the guiding effect of a three pulley configuration. The belt's lateral movement as well as the belt's bending stresses during the guiding process is calculated. This paper is a cooperation between Voith Paper GmbH, Vienna Technical University and Upper Austria University of Applied Sciences. The presented simulation method has successfully been applied for the optimisation of the pulley's configuration of a flat steel process belt in the new development of a paper machine.
