Abstract

In this paper we present an application of global sensitivity measures in determining influence of uncertain parameters (factors) on transmission line fault location result variability. The sensitivity measures are obtained through Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) decomposition. Computing ANOVA decomposition is a sampling-based process (Monte Carlo) in which the power system simulator and a fault locator are both executed repeatedly for combinations of values sampled from the factor space. The paper concludes with analysis example where the presented methodology has been applied in testing two simple one-sided fault location algorithms.
