Abstract

The combination of four modes of transport (water, rail, road and air) to multimodal transportation networks is still a peripheral issue with many unknowns. The "Q4-project" is dedicated to filling this knowledge gap, will examine the contribution of quattro-modal freight hubs towards an economically, ecologically and socially sustainable freight transport system and identifies questions for future R&D programmes / projects.
