Abstract
This study investigated the differences between ratings from mothers, fathers and kindergarten teachers concerning pre-schooler's prosocial behaviours. Furthermore, associations between parental relationship behaviours, maternal and paternal parenting behaviours, and pre-schooler's prosocial behaviours were examined. Altogether 98 mothers and fathers of pre-school aged children (49 girls and 49 boys) and their kindergarten teachers were included. Mothers rated their children as more prosocial compared to fathers and kindergarten teachers. Parenting behaviours from mothers and fathers showed significant associations with children's prosocial behaviours. Paternal relationship behaviours were also associated with children's prosocial behaviours. Furthermore, there was an indirect effect of paternal relationship behaviours on children's prosocial behaviour, which was mediated by paternal parenting behaviour. Implications for future research and the practical significance of the findings are discussed.
