Abstract
The potential of informal care is underestimated in many areas. Through the use of AAL technology informal carers can take over parts from professional caregivers. A virtual assistant can support the informal carer as well as the patient and their daily tasks. The main problems of such a system are the different requirements. Informal carers have other interests and requirements compared to the needs of patients. Informal carers seek for decision support while patients focus on self-determined lifestyle. A virtual assistant can connect the two perspectives into an interface and optimize the whole care process. Our research shows how to connect the two perspectives to optimize the development of market ready AAL products and services from an applied perspective.
