Abstract
Removal of dust particles from blast furnace top gas is commonly achieved by two-staged cleaning systems, comprised of a first separator (dust catcher) and a second cleaning with a venturi scrubber or an annular gap scrubber. In some cases dry cleaning systems have been realized in the past using bag filters with back flushing cleaning systems or electrostatic precipitators with circular casings. In recent years there have been two developments: on the one hand, measures are taken to increase the separation efficiency of the first cleaning stage, on the other hand, especially in China, totally dry cleaning systems for the top gas have been installed at a lot of large blast furnaces, using bag filters with pulse-jet cleaning systems. This article gives an overview of the state of the art and these new developments.
