Abstract

The development of a production concept for skinless pretzel-shaped sausages brings along several challenges, ranging from difficulties in automatically handling sausage meat to the compliance of applicable regulations for food production. In this design project, several companies with different tasks and experiences were involved, whereby the Johannes Kepler University Linz contributed systematic conceptual design knowledge. As a basis for the design cooperation, a systematic design approach was applied and supported by several methods when passing through different development stages in mechatronic product design. This paper gives a brief summary of the design activities in this project and summarizes the gained experience.
