Mobile Kleinhäuser - nachhaltig und preiswert?

The topic of „affordable accommodations” has been affecting the construction industry and politics for several years, not least due to sharply rising real estate prices. Building plots in good locations are just as prohibitively expensive for young people as larger apartments in urban areas, especially in big cities. This raises the question: How much does a person need to live? The energetic, ecological and economic optimization of buildings is an essential part of the “Eco-Energy Engineering” bachelor program. Energy efficiency, sustainability and regionality are as equally important as coziness, which decisively determines the equality of life of the residents (Kugfarth, 2018). As part of the klimaaktiv regional partnership, the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria has been carried out several scientific projects concerning on the topic of tiny homes. In cooperation with an Upper Austrian prefabricated building company, a master thesis con-cerning a building technology concept for an innovative modular construction system was developed. The aim here was the development of an innovative, high-quality and at the same time inexpensive modular system, which does not exclude increased ecological standards (Krainz, 2018). As part of a cross-curricular project, a group of students developed an energy self-sufficient cabin for almost every kind of application. Based on an extensive research on existing building systems, various topics were examined and partly new concepts developed. The focus here was on mobility, modular assembly, ecological construction and materials, self-sufficiency, efficient electrical components and the water cycle (Leindecker, 2017).
