Abstract

The mobile 3D mapping of the erdstall at Unterstetten shows the use of modern technology in archaeology. The erdstall at Unterstetten is a remarkable example of these underground structures in southern Germany, Austria and other parts of Europe. Erdstalls are small, often labyrinthine tunnels whose purpose and origin remain a mystery. The erdstall at Unterstetten has some unique features that make it a prime example of this type of structure. The authors carried out a detailed 3D survey of the erdstall to examine its structure and features. The 3D survey was carried out using advanced techniques that made it possible to create an accurate threedimensional model. The unique selling point of this project lies in the precision and accuracy of the 3D survey By combining different surveying techniques, it was able to create a detailed image of the underground structure and to gain important information about its dimensions, shape and possible purpose. The results of the 3D survey provide valuable insights into the architecture and structure of the Unterstetten erdstall. This interdisciplinary research can help to deepen our understanding of these fascinating historical structures and stimulate further research and discussion about their origins, use and significance. The 3D survey of the erdstall at Unterstetten can thus be seen as an outstanding achievement.
