Abstract

In the new hot rolling mill in Cracow, Poland, which belongs to the ArcelorMittal Group, the first coil was produced at the end of June 2007 - only 23 months after the contract was signed. The new plant means that ArcelorMittal now has the most modern hot rolling mill in Europe. It is the first completely new plant of this kind for more than ten years. It produces steel strip with thicknesses of 25.4 mm down to 1.2 mm and has an annual capacity of 2.4 million t. The maximum coil weight is 351. With a maximum strip width of 2 100 mm, the hot rolling mill is one of the widest such machines in Europe.
