Abstract

The Improvement of patient orientation helps hospitals to reduce patient waiting times and maximize operational efficiency whitch influences patient satisfaction. The authors evaluated patient waiting times in front of diagnostical and therapeutical performances in a secondary care hospital. The objective of the study was the representative, multidimensional evaluation of patient waiting times and interpretation of causes. The result of the survey of patient waiting times is that almost 23 % of waiting time situations are longer than 30 minutes. Furthermore influenced these extended waiting times the growth of patient dissatisfaction with the hospital stay. In 63 percent it was impossible to find a cause for the waiting time.
