Abstract
In a constantly changing world, higher education institutions need to educate students for their future careers. This paper aims to contribute to the question about relevant skills and competences by bringing together students’ and lecturers’ perspectives. It presents the results of a survey among international students of an English-taught engineering programme in Austria and discusses the role of language skills in students' employability. The results of the survey indicate a strong consensus among students and lecturers and a large consent with the skills and competencies taught in the current curriculum, planting several ideas for further improvement.
