Abstract
The development of automation in precasting plants has taken place at a breathtaking speed. The industry has observed a two-year cycle wherein a critical technical innovation could be expected to take place. A brief review of these developments is presented. It includes the use of master computers, plotters, form robots, steel bar positioning robots, concrete distributors, and 'dancing concrete distributors'. The future of companies that have reached these developments will therefore lie in extending the products offered using these very technologies. The market horizon must be exploited for new opportunities towards additional profits. This paper helps explore these opportunities.
