Abstract
Currently applied autonomous power supplies are designed for specific energy demands and are therefore rather inflexible regarding changing application requirements. To allow attaching and detaching of electrical devices during full operation without new load calculations a flexible Power Distribution System (PDS) is necessary. This can be achieved by applying an Energy Management System. A concept for a scalable PDS is presented in this work. The concept is implemented in a field demon-stration setup as a distributed IEC 61499 control application. It is shown, that reconfiguration, like changing the load distribution algo-rithm, can be realized without downtime.
