Abstract
The use of biodegradable polyesters in seasonal geotextiles. Seasonal geotextiles are used in specific applications, where material degradation is desired after a certain time period. Examples are geotextiles for revegetation or erosion control mats, which are only needed temporarily. In this work, biodegradable polyesters were used, which are a promising alternative to conventional plastics used in geotextiles. Four different bio-materials were used for fibre production and the results from mechanical testing were compared to PP fibres, which were produced the same way. The short-time stability was determined by an accelerated artificial weathering test. Here, blend fibres consisting of two different bio-plastics showed the most promising results. Furthermore, the produced bio-fibres where hot pressed to form fibre mats to obtain a small geotextile sample.
