Abstract

One of the most difficult aspects of running a production control system is to identify the optimal parameter setting. Although CONWIP was invented nearly 2 decades ago and is actively discussed in scientific papers, it is still rarely used in companies. This paper provides a literature review on the state of the art in parameter setting of WIP cap, work-ahead window, dispatching rules and capacity trigger of a CONWIP system in a MTO environment.
