Abstract

NFC (Near Field Communication) is a new radio technology that enables short-range data transfers. Operating at 13.56 MHz and with low transmitting power, NFC can bridge distances of a few centimetres. The main purpose of the NFC technology is to simplify sophisticated procedures, e.g. doing payment or building up a network. NFC technology can especially be applied in the field of mobile consumer electronics. In the future NFC will be found for example in mobile phones, et cetera. Within the scope of this diploma thesis, a concept for a test system is introduced, that can build up an IP link over NFC. That means that the IP traffic is transported over a wireless NFC link. For example, this network can be integrated into an existing LAN and use its resources (e.g. internet access). In addition, this concept is implemented in an experimental set-up with 2 PCs and 2 NFC-Boxes (developed at the University of Applied Sciences in Hagenberg). Since the usage of the NFC technology in that way is new, the system is tested on its performance and evaluated.
