An Approach for Capacity Checking and Due Date Adjustment: -

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingsConference contribution

Abstract

Motivation: Due date setting and capacity planning are two of the most important production planning and control functions because of their high influence on the service level. In this paper the interrelation between these two functions will be discussed and an approach to fulfill these functions will be presented. The discussed model makes sure that for all of not yet completed work to finish at a certain due date enough capacity is available until this due date. The algorithm works with the cumulated capacity needed at the latest possible due date for each machine group. Results: As result, a model for determining the needed capacity at certain work centers or capacity groups will be presented as well as an approach to set due dates. Further, an example where this approach is already implemented in a company is presented.
