Abstract

In this paper an innovative application of the semi-parametric modelling in solving distance to fault location problem is presented. The important factor affecting the fault location accuracy for close-in faults is the nonlinear dynamic behaviour of an arc. The proposed technique efficiently eliminates influence of arc on distance to fault calculation. The new method is tested through simulation study and using practical fault records. Some representative results are presented in the paper.
