Abstract
A generic evolutionary computation approach based upon genetic algorithms and evolution strategies was studied. An advanced selection model was also proposed for genetic algorithms that allows adaptive selective pressure handling in a way that is quite similar to evolution strategies. It was found that the efficiency of a variable selective pressure depends on the genetic diversity of the entire population and it is a fruitful approach to define the actual selective pressure depending on the actual genetic diversity of population.
