Description
Smart Care Assist is looking for answers to the question of how care beds need to be equipped (e.g. with smart textiles) in order to support nursing staff and at the same time serve for optimal patient care.
Smart Care Assist is a research project funded by Interreg Bavaria-Austria 2021-2027 and co-financed by the EU. It aims to develop an intelligent information system that supports nursing staff in ensuring high-quality care for elderly residents in nursing homes. The project focuses on the integration of smart textile sensors and sensor-based data analysis to ease the daily workload of nursing staff, increase patient safety and improve care outcomes.
The project activities include
• Data collection in the nursing practice of several care facilities on the behaviour and condition of the persons being cared for, care interventions and challenges
• Evaluating existing assistance systems in terms of their usefulness in everyday care
• Deriving solutions to improve everyday care
• Further developing and creating new technical solutions for sensor technology in care beds
• Developing organisational and process-related improvements for care beds
• Testing in the Living Care Lab
