Description

The project proposal LudaViz sits at the intersection of information visualization (IV) and video game design. In a world increasingly driven by data, data should not only be effectively but also engagingly and memorably visualized. We focus on what we call ludic visualizations (LVs) – a form of data representation that harnesses diegetic elements and the narrative environment of video games to convey information in a manner that is both aesthetically appealing and functional. The goals of LudaViz are twofold: 1) develop an understanding of these understudied type of visualization and formulate guidelines for casual IV design, and 2) investigate how the visualization of players
